ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

OBJECTIVES
A two-day regionally organised course introducing the candidates to the techniques and safety
requirements of classroom and swimming pool lessons. Based mostly in the classroom, candidates are divided into small syndicates to develop theory and presentation techniques, build confidence and learn to deliver a given subject in a progressive and constructive manner. Some swimming pool work delivering skill lessons.

Basic Boathandling (Diver Coxswain)

BASIC BOATHANDLING
Cost :- £95
OBJECTIVES
The Basic Boat Handling course provides the member with little or no boat handling experience, theoretical and practical instruction in the safe handling of small powerboats at sea.
ENTRY CRITERIA
Current S.A.A. membership.
Current S.A.A/BDSG Course Manual.
No diving qualification needed.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED
Qualification book and wall certificates.
This course is in two parts - the theory first and the practical follows on a different weekend.
Chartwork and Navigation

SAA CHARTWORK AND NAVIGATION COURSE
Cost :- £40
A 2 day course covering the theory and practical aspects of navigational charts and voyage plotting
OBJECTIVES
To give members with little or no experience in chartwork or navigation, theoretical instruction in the use of navigational charts and navigational aids. It should be remembered that this is an introduction to chartwork and navigation and not a boathandling course, candidates should therefore be encouraged to complete an SAA or other organisation approved boat handling course.
ENTRY CRITERIA
Current SAA membership.
No diving qualifications needed.
Minimum age 16.

DIVER FIRST AID

OBJECTIVES
The SAA Diver First Aid Course is a two day course intended to benefit everyone, especially those with no previous knowledge in First Aid or the treatment of a casualty in an accident situation.
