SAA CHARTWORK AND NAVIGATION COURSE

Cost :- £40

Objectives
A course to give members with little or no experience in chartwork or navigation, theoretical instruction in the use of navigational charts and navigational instruments. It should be remembered that this is an introduction to chartwork and navigation and not a boathandling course, candidates should therefore be encouraged to complete an SAA or other organisation approved boat handling course.

Requirements
Current SAA membership.
No diving qualifications needed.
Minimum age 14.

Qualifications Awarded
SAA Chartwork and Navigation Logbook & Wall Certificate.

Course Length
The SAA Chartwork and Navigation Course duration is of two days with a theory and practical exam.

Course Examination
The course examination will consist of a 75 minute written exam paper which includes a plotting exercise.
The questions try to cover all aspects that divers are likely to encounter as they are asked to perform
chartwork and navigation duties within their clubs.

Description

Brownhills Community Technology College is a secondary school for pupils aged 11 – 18, specialising in Technology. The school is located on the outskirts of the town of Brownhills, to the North of Walsall, just off the main A5, Watling Street. It is situated away from the main shopping area and on the edge of Brownhills Common.

The school provides a range of community leisure and sporting facilities, and hosts an on-site nursery. It gained specialist technology status in 2002

At present, the school has 865 pupils and 116 staff.
