DIVER RESCUE

OBJECTIVES
Three part course, split into theory, open water and deep lifts practical.
Course content covers:

- Accident Avoidence and Incident Management
- Practical Underwater and Surface Rescues
- Risk Assessment
ENTRY CRITERIA
Current SAA Membership
Current Medical or self certificate.
Experienced SAA Club Diver (or equivalent)
Minimum age 18 years (Depth Restriction applies below this age in a dive leading role)
Authorisation of Club Diving Officer
QUALIFICATION AWARDED
Qualification book and wall certificates
Successful candidates may move forward to train for Dive Supervisor and Regional Instructor as Diver Rescue is a mandatory qualification for both of these courses.
The SAA Diver Rescue Course provides the candidate with the diving skills and underpinning
knowledge to improve or refresh their basic diving skills as well as developing their rescue skills.
The course, perhaps uniquely, requires pre-attendance preparation and diligent practise between the
instruction and assessment components of the course. Tuition and advice are available from Diver
Rescue Instructors throughout the course to assist candidates in their preparation.

Preparation for rescue components of Deep Lifts Session
A short theoretical knowledge check
Module 2 Open Water Practical (wet)
